The reduction bus is a powerful tool, no doubt, but I would like to see further enhancement in the concept.
As far as I can tell when a channel is sent to a Stereo Reduction Bus it follows the path without any attenuation. In other words and element that was panned to the LS and RS channels arrives at the stereo reduction L and R channels at unity. As compared to the settings I have for my Monitor Format fold to ST which drops the LS / RS -6 to L / R.
My proposal:
Have the Reduction Bus fold down follow the parameters established with the Monitor Format fold down.
In this way when I toggle between the 5.1 Main mix folded to stereo via the Alt Format and Sub 1 (A Stereo Reduction of the 5.1 Main Bus) they would be identical.
